Here’s a tip to end 2020 on a high note — Singer-Actor Donnie Wahlberg brings joy to waitress with #2020 Tip Challenge
· Nov 16, 2020 · NottheBee.com

Massachusetts homeboy, Donnie Wahlberg (think New Kids on the Block, his brother Mark, and Wahlburgers), is doing his part to make 2020 just a little kinder for a few people.

WCVB5 Boston reports:

A Cape Cod server got a big surprise when Donnie Wahlberg sat down at the table.

The Dorchester native left a $2,020 tip on a $35 lunch tab at the Marshland Restaurant in Sandwich.

To make sure she (and the rest of us) got the point, he wrote, "#2020 Tip Challenge" on the receipt, surely knowing the gesture would be newsworthy, and hopefully inspire others to do the same.

But it's not the first time he's laid down the challenge. In January (months before 2020 would morph into the l-o-n-g-e-s-t, most bizarro year in history) he tipped an IHOP waitress the same amount with the same message, "#2020 Tip Challenge."

Did he know something we didn't know yet?!

Turns out the #2020 Tip Challenge has been making the rounds across the country all year, and apparently started as a nod to the "cool" factor and boundless potential, hopes and dreams that yet lay before us in a year with such a great numeric moniker.

Then BAM! The dreams devolved to nightmares.

But I digress.

Either way, what a great idea. And it targets some of those hardest hit by Covid craziness … restaurant wait staff.

We may not all be able to tip $2,020, but maybe some of us could swing $20.20 on a modest tab.

I know I'm gonna look for an opportunity. If you do the same, be sure to circle back to Not The Bee and leave a post to keep the #2020 Tip Challenge good vibe going.
