Waffle House was the first to fall, but not the last.
And now, Denny's.
Denny's has announced that it will be adding a temporary surcharge to meals that include eggs, joining Waffle House in adjusting prices due to supply challenges.
In a statement to ABC News on Monday, the company explained that the surcharge is necessary due to the nationwide egg shortage and rising costs.
Seems like it wasn't that long ago that you could go to Denny's, plunk down two bucks, and hit a grand slam:

Alas, those days are long gone, as are, apparently, the days of cheap eggs.
From the company:
Some of our restaurant locations will need to temporarily add a surcharge to every meal that includes eggs. This pricing decision is market-by-market, and restaurant-by-restaurant due to the regional impacts of the egg shortage.
Who knew that eggs would one day be a rich man's breakfast? What a time to be alive.

I might just have to stay home for a while and perfect my hard-boiled egg recipe 👇
