Pennsylvania thieves just stole 100,000 eggs from a trailer

Feb 5, 2025

We've been tracking the crazy spike in egg prices across the country for a while now:

The soaring national prices of over $4 per dozen is even leading some people to consider adopting backyard chickens:

And it's leading others to try even more desperate gambits. Like these thieves in Greencastle, Pennsylvania, who knocked off a trailer full of eggs. 100,000 organic eggs.

Pennsylvania State Police are searching for a suspect after nearly 100,000 eggs were stolen from an egg distributor in Franklin County, Pennsylvania. Officers responded to Pete & Jerry's Organics in Antrim Township following reports of the theft, which occurred from the back of a distribution trailer. Police estimate the stolen eggs have a retail value of $40,000. Officials say the investigation is ongoing, but no suspect or suspects have been identified at this time and they are continually searching for the suspect.

One. Hundred. Thousand. Eggs.
$40,000 worth!

Honestly, aside from the sheer brazen criminality of it all, what exactly are they going to do with those eggs?

Cook them? Nobody eats that many eggs!

Sell them out of your trunk on the black market? Come on.

The company told CNN that they are "actively working with local law enforcement to investigate."

Just be aware: If a shady dude tries to sell you eggs from his trench coat, you're buying stolen goods!
