ELON FREAKING MUSK, ladies and gentlemen! That's right, the madlad has finalized his purchase of the entirety of Twitter Inc. for $44 BILLION and will now take it private.

Twitter's board has accepted an offer from billionaire Elon Musk to buy the social media company and take it private, the company announced Monday.

The cash deal at $54.20 per share is valued around $44 billion, according to the press release. Twitter will become a private company once the deal is complete.

I know what you're all thinking: Does this mean The Babylon Bee and our fearless leader Adam Ford will get out of Twitter jail now???

And what about that mean orange guy? Does he get to come back now and drive the libs crazy again? I'm gonna need some more popcorn!

If you recall, Twitter tried to stave off the takeover by adopting a "poison pill" policy that hurt the company itself. But they were playing 4D Chess with the Dogelord.

...The offer became more concrete once Musk announced in a Securities and Exchange Commission filing that he received commitments for $46.5 billion to help finance the potential deal. That included about $25.5 billion in debt financing from Morgan Stanley Senior Funding and other firms. He said he committed about $21 billion in equity financing.

Musk said in the same filing he was exploring a tender offer to purchase shares of Twitter directly from shareholders.

To all the triggered blue checkmarks out there who hate free speech and funny memes: It'll be okay.
