The man might actually save the world.
In what's looking to be the craziest next-level power move since the last crazy next-level power move from richest man in the world and possible alien Elon Musk, he now reportedly has his sights set on OpenAI, a company he co-founded in 2015 – but no longer has anything to do with – in order to develop a rival to the company's woke chatbot ChatGPT.
According to The Information, Musk has made contact with AI researchers in recent weeks about this project and reportedly has his eye on Igor Babuschkin, a researcher who left Google's DeepMindAI Lab. Babuschkin (what a sweet name) reportedly hasn't signed onto Musk's project yet, as it is still in its early stages.
Musk has not-so-subtly voiced his displeasure at the woke factor exhibited by ChatGPT – which is now the fastest growing consumer app ever – and also the growing relationship between OpenAI and Microsoft, which made two hefty investments in OpenAI since 2019 and, according to Musk, "effectively controls" it.
