I'm really excited that the future AI-apocalypse movies will finally be set someplace other than California and/or DC.

More from the Memphis Business Journal:

Sources confirmed to MBJ that xAI plans to renovate the former Electrolux manufacturing facility to accommodate the supercomputer operation. The 785,000-square-foot facility is located at 3231 Paul R. Lowry Road in Southwest Memphis near the Mississippi River.

On Saturday, June 1, at least 50 vehicles and a large charter bus were visible in the facility's parking lot. A source told MBJ that Musk was inside the building at the time.

It is expected that most of xAI's investment spend would go toward the advanced equipment and supporting infrastructure required to build and maintain the supercomputer.

Musk launched xAI last year and announced details about the supercomputer in May.

xAI broke records by raising $6 billion in a Series B funding round for a $24 billion valuation.

Live look at Memphis in 10 years if AI or wokeness doesn't kill us all:
