IMPORTANT UPDATE after some major confusion about this ruling:
The disclosure of a list of more than 150 associates of deceased pedophile Jeffrey Epstein will begin on Wednesday despite an appeal from a Jane Doe.
The U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York will begin publicizing the list Wednesday and hold off on naming three Jane Does until at least Jan. 22 after a judge granted one Jane Doe a 30 day extension, NewsNation confirmed Wednesday.
Original story:
I knew we were all getting a bit too excited for this:
You had to know they wouldn't release the Epstein client list. And now they're saying it will be released no earlier than January 22.
The release of more than 150 names mentioned in court documents from a civil case filed by one of Jeffrey Epstein's victims was postponed.
The documents won't be made public until at least Jan. 22, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York confirmed to NewsNation.
The delay comes after a judge granted a 30-day extension to a Jane Doe to consider her appeal to remain confidential.
January 22?!?!
I'll be surprised if we see this list by summer, and I hope I'm wrong, because watching the machine collapse in real time is definitely on my 2024 bingo card.
Here, it looks like the list has been delayed by Jane Doe 107, who lives outside the USA in a "culturally conservative country."
The judge's ruling at the end there is the important part, so I'll leave it here:
Doe 107's request for a 30-day extension is approved. Doe 107 shall, by January 22, 2024, submit to the Court for in camera review an affidavit (1) supporting her assertion that she faces a risk of physical harm in her country of residence and (2) providing detail concerning the hate mail she has received. Doe 107's counsel may also provide by this date any additional factual support for Doe 107's contention that unsealing the relevant records would put her at risk of physical harm.
So this lady lives outside the U.S. in a conservative country and has already received hate mail for her connections to Epstein.
Seems like she's already on people's radar, so why are we protecting her name? For how long will this protection last, and how many more Does will go this route?
Bro, I have a feeling we'll be waiting for this list to be released until at least January 20, 2025.
Hit me in the comments with your guesses at Jane Doe 107's identity.
