It really makes you wonder what Martin Luther himself would say about this.
The Evangelical Lutheran Church of America (ELCA) installed its "first openly transgender bishop" on Saturday in San Francisco (of course).
"My call is [...] to be up to the same messy, loving things I was up to before," Rohrer told people Grace Cathedral. "But mostly, if you'll let me, and I think you will, my hope is to love you and beyond that, to love what you love."
"I step into this role because a diverse community of Lutherans in Northern California and Nevada prayerfully and thoughtfully voted to do a historic thing," Rohrer said in a statement. "My installation will celebrate all that is possible when we trust God to shepherd us forward."
(Fun Fact: Cosmopolitan's 2018 video feature on Rohrer unironically includes a clip of Pastor John MacArthur preaching on transgenderism.)
After studying at Augustana University in her hometown of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Rohrer moved to California to pursue master's and doctoral degrees. And I'm sure she received great biblical education while studying at Pacific School of Religion in Berkeley.
I'm not sure why her installation as bishop is a milestone for the already very woke ELCA.
In 2010, ELCA ordained seven pastors in homosexual relationships.
Also, Rohrer was already serving as pastor of Grace Lutheran Church in San Francisco.
Rohrer also served as a chaplain coordinator for San Francisco's police department, further proving the well-established fact that San Francisco is clown town.
So, what difference does this appointment make other than score Woke Points? Oh, wait โ scoring Woke Points is the purpose of this "milestone."
When will they have their first libragender bishop? That's my question.
