Far-left nonprofit organization ProPublica has released a story of a woman they claim is the "first preventable death" due to Georgia's pro-life laws.
When they broke the news on X, the reaction was immediate.
The Left quickly began spreading the story that Amber Nicole Thurman died due to laws in Georgia that outlawed lifesaving D&C procedures on women who are miscarrying.
Kamala Harris responded and blamed Thurman's death on Trump:
Memes like this were made:
The narrative immediately became this: "Women are dying needlessly thanks to Trump and pro-life Republicans."
The catch? The entire story of Thurman's tragic death is a lie.
Thurman was actually killed by the abortion pill and a lack of follow-up care from the abortionist.
Here's the real story:
Thurman discovered she was carrying twins in 2022, and decided to abort them. She drove to a North Carolina abortion clinic for a surgical abortion. After running into traffic, she was late, but the murderous psychos at the abortion clinic refused to save her spot. They canceled the surgical abortion and instead sent her home with a mifepristone and misoprostol abortion pill regimen.
As a result of the abortion pill, contents were left in her uterus and she got an infection. She checked into a Georgia hospital with "acute severe sepsis." A D&C would be required to remove the remaining pieces of her dead twins and stop the infection, a procedure that is 100% legal in all pro-life states, including Georgia. There was no pro-life law that prevented her from receiving the treatment. The hospital cared for Thurman for 20 hours before finally taking her to surgery, but by then it was too late. There is no evidence whatsoever that her surgery was delayed due to pro-life laws.
So here we have a poor mother killed by the abortion pill and negligent delayed care at the hospital, and this is how the demonic death-worshippers of the Left are spinning it:
A spokesman for Georgia Governor Kemp responded to the story:
It is self-evident that dangerous misinformation places patients' lives at risk, which is why getting the facts right is vitally important. Georgia's LIFE Act not only expanded support for expectant mothers but also established clear exceptions, including providing necessary care in the event of a medical emergency. In Georgia, we will always fight for and protect the lives of the most vulnerable among us.
According to FDA statistics, 32 women are killed by the abortion pill every year. In many states, women can get the pills in the mail with nothing but a virtual consultation with Planned Parenthood and no establishment of care at a local OBGYN or hospital.
The Babylon Bee's Joel Berry highlighted what seems to be an increasing problem with the abortion pill and the dangers that come with it:
Allie Beth Stuckey masterfully broke down the story as an example of how the Left is lying and using "toxic empathy" to exploit the tragic death of a young woman for political gain.
The abortion pill will kill more women. Abortionists will continue to neglect compassionate care to mothers, and the Left will continue to exploit these deaths and create a false narrative.
