Fauci's latest 180 on masks: "There’s no data that indicates that [double masking] is going to make a difference.”

I'm starting to get dizzy, but I can't tell if it's from all of Fauci's spinning, or from trying to breath through 17 masks.

"Better asphyxiated than sorry," I always say.

There are many people who feel, you know, if you really want to have an extra little bit of extra protection maybe I should put two masks on.

Who were these "many people?"

One was Anthony Fauci. (At 0.20.)

If you have a physical covering with one layer, you put another layer on it just makes common sense that it likely would be more effective.

At some point in the last week Dr. Fauci remembered he was supposed to be a scientist and maybe should do some sciency things like consider the data.

Which brings us back to the first video.

There's nothing wrong with [double masking] but there's no data that indicates that that is going to make a difference, and that's the reason why the CDC has not changed their recommendation.

If you are interested in the full context, this was from a discussion sponsored by the American Federation of Teachers and was not prompted by any specific question regarding how many masks you should wear. He volunteered it in the broader context of school openings.

Readers might recall that Dr. Fauci originally recommended no one wear masks, then everyone wear masks, and then this latest 360 on wearing more than one mask and then not.
