We've covered Roblox's sexual predator problem in previous articles here on Not the Bee.

But it sounds like law enforcement has started taking note of Roblox's issues.

Florida Attorney General James Uthmeir announced the state is conducting criminal investigation into the company and their failure to address the popular gaming site's grooming issues.

Uthmeir said,

Our initial investigation as well as arrests and convictions across the state have shown that Roblox is a breeding ground for child predators to get on the platform, solicit information, locations, and ultimately abuse kids.

That's a non-starter here in Florida.

We will go after child predators with everything we've got, and we're going to hold Roblox accountable. We believe they knowingly allowed their platform to be used in this way.

Roblox of course issued a blanket statement in response to the criminal subpoenas:

We share Attorney General Uthmeier's commitment to keeping kids safe and we will continue to assist his office in their investigations.

We have a strong record of working with law enforcement and investing in advanced safety systems to help protect our users and remove bad actors. To safeguard users, we prohibit the sharing of images and videos in the chat, use filters designed to block the exchange of personal information, and we are working to implement age estimation for all users accessing chat features.

Back to Uthmeir:

Multiple investigations have revealed that sexual predators are using Roblox to access, communicate with, and groom minors.

Roblox profited off of our kids while exposing them to the most dangerous of harms. They enabled our kids to be abused.

He said over the past few years there have been over 1,000 Roblox child-abuse cases in Florida alone.

Florida law enforcement will use the subpoenas to investigate criminal activity on the platform and gather evidence on child predators and their victims.
