High School Musical star Vanessa Hudgens is teaming up with Bunim-Murray Productions to produce a documentary about her personal forays into the wizarding world of witchcraft. Like the real kind.
The film, "Dead Hot: Season of the Witch," follows Hudgens, and her best friend, musician GG Magree, as they explore ghost hunting, the Divine Feminine, and the spirit realm.
The film description says,
After a ghost hunt gone wrong in Northern California they realize they must seek out proper mentorship and training. Vanessa and GG embark on a pilgrimage to Salem, Massachusetts for a master class in witchcraft, the power of the goddess, and the Divine Feminine.
The movie follows the two women on their "pilgrimage" to Salem, Massachusetts, as well as their exploration of different methods of practicing witchcraft.
Witchcraft has been on the rise in the U.S. for the past couple of decades, with some estimates saying there are now more practicing witches than Presbyterians in the country and that number is only growing. Celebrities like Hudgens and Magree are just a small part of mainstreaming the age-old New Age.
Julie Pizzi, president of Bunim-Murray Productions, said of the two women,
They've been doing little spells since they were kids, and they were just really interested in that world
She went on to say that the film is "a lot about female empowerment."
Hudgens spoke about her lifelong fascination with witchcraft earlier this year on "The Kelly Clarkson Show," saying,
I've accepted the fact that I see things and I hear things. The unknown is scary, but I recently was like, ‘No, this is a gift and something that I have the ability to do, so I'm going to lean into it.'
