A former senior foreign policy advisor from the Obama White House was charged in a British court for offenses related to child sex abuse.

Rahamim 'Rami' Shy was charged with arranging the commission of a child sex crime and having inappropriate photos of minors.

Shy, a US citizen, who lives in New Jersey, worked for the White House under president Barack Obama and secretary of state Hillary Clinton, was arrested in late February by Bedfordshire Police. He was charged the following day and appeared at Luton Crown Court via video-link from HMP Bedford on Friday wearing a grey prison-issue tracksuit.

He was not asked to enter a plea to any of the charges and was remanded in custody ahead of a hearing in June.

Shy was most recently an executive at Citi and served for 6 years in the Obama Treasury Department where he was a counterterrorism advisor, focused on financial sanctions of terror groups and foreign adversaries.

We'll keep you updated if there are any more details in the case before the next scheduled hearing in June.
