Geologist Lucas Fassari was more than likely chowing down on a freshly baked chocolate chip cookie when he discovered this extremely rare volcanic rock in Brazil's southernmost state of Rio Grande do Sul.
Yes, that rock looks A WHOLE LOT like Cookie Monster!
And yes, now that song is stuck in your head...
"C is for cookie, that's good enough for me..."
Fassari has since handed the rock over to a California man named Mike Bowers, who specializes in rare agate rocks. According to Wikipedia, agate is, "a common rock formation, consisting of chalcedony and quartz as its primary components, consisting of a wide variety of colors. Agates are primarily formed within volcanic and metamorphic rocks." They also tell us "agate minerals have the tendency to form on or within pre-existing rocks."
While we are unsure how much Bowers forked over for the Sesame Street-themed volcanic rock, Bowers did give us an idea for how much people are willing to pay him for it:
'This is very unusual! There are a few famous agates out there: the owl, the scared face... there are many approximate ones but rare to find clear well defined like that.
'Prices can be very high. I was proposed over $10,000 by 5 different buyers. Rare.'
In case that song didn't get stuck in your head, here it is:
