Free speech or not, it's hard to talk with two of your front teeth knocked out.
Philip Anderson, a free speech protest organizer, associated with a group called Team Save America, found that out the hard way earlier this month when he organized a Free Speech rally in San Francisco. According to an AP report, a larger group of reputed Antifa counter-protesters aggressively attacked him and his group, leaving Anderson bloodied, battered, and minus two teeth.
That's when YouTube personality Adam Crigler decided to create a GoFundMe campaign to "help Philip Anderson fix his teeth."
Funds quickly started adding up, exceeding the amount needed for the dental work, totalling $27K of the $20K goal. Anderson then made the "mistake" of transparency, thanking the donors, and assuring them he'd use the extra funds to plan the next protest.
Hey, I guess he could have just kept his toothless mouth shut and used the extra funds to buy a new car or take a pricey, exotic vacay, but no — he dared admit that he'd use the excess to offset not just the cost of his KO'd front teeth, but also the cost of the KO'd protest.
That's all it took for @berkelyantifa to strike another blow, calling for the defunding of the GoFundMe campaign.
Hey, @gofundme, is it normal to make a fundraiser for accident and emergency and then flat out say you're actually using the money to fund a rally?
We don't know how many others may have complained, but GoFundMe promptly de-platformed the campaign, returning the funds to the donors.
Did we mention his alleged attacker is a Black Lives Matter activist? Did we mention that Anderson is black and that his attackers screamed obscenities, including calling him a "n.." while bashing in his face?
Warning: Language and Physical Violence
Anderson has now launched a new campaign on a different platform, GiveSendGo. So far, he's raised about $6k of his $15k goal.
