British activists blame Mr. Bean for the current EV sales slump. I'm not joking.

MR. BEAN, PUBLIC ENEMY NUMBER 1.

The Green Alliance in the UK, as well as the libs in the House of Lords, are blaming one man for the slump in electric vehicle sales.

They're actually blaming Mr. Bean.

Well, the actor behind Mr. Bean, Rowan Atkinson.

The Mr Bean actor was name-checked in the House of Lords on Tuesday during its environment and climate change committee meeting.

Thinktank Green Alliance gave its views on the main obstacles the government faces in its bid to phase out petrol and diesel cars before 2035, and said a comment piece by the Johnny English star published in June 2023 was damaging to the cause.

It wasn't his cartoon kids show where he made fun of electric vehicles (yes, that exists), but an article where Atkinson described his feeling of being "duped" by electric cars after being an early adopter of the technology.

Here it is in The Guardian:

Yeah, the greenies over in the UK think that one actor writing one op-ed tanked the electric car industry.

Atkinson's article is concerned with a UK ban on new fossil fuel vehicles that was proposed to take place in 2030.

(Yeah, 2030. California is drooling.)

All the actor said is that the technology is not up to the task of completely replacing gas cars in that timeframe. He also called EV's "soulless" and criticized using lithium-ion batteries as the fuel source for these cars, considering their significant environmental impact.

But nah, it can't be EV prices, drawbacks compared to gas vehicles, inflation, supply chain issues, or public pushback against government eco-tyranny. It's all Mr. Bean's fault! The market only responds to Mr. Bean!!

The pressure group told peers in a letter that was shared: "One of the most damaging articles was a comment piece written by Rowan Atkinson in The Guardian which has been roundly debunked.

'Unfortunately, fact checks never reach the same breadth of audience as the original false claim, emphasising the need to ensure high editorial standards around the net zero transition.'

If you say the Net Zero carbon emissions goal is a pipe dream, you're a purveyor of misinformation and you need to be shut up!

Be careful, Mr. Bean. the climate change mafia just put a target on your back!

They may throw soup on you!
