In today's edition of totally disgusting news, we have this unfortunate story out of Arkansas.
Family Dollar is now temporarily closing 400 stores because their distribution center in West Memphis was discovered to have an infestation of THOUSANDS of rats.
More than 400 Family Dollar locations remained temporarily closed Sunday as the discount retailer worked to recover from a massive rodent infestation at one of its distribution centers.
The Food and Drug Administration first sent an inspector to the West Memphis, Arkansas, facility in January following a consumer complaint, The Washington Post reported.
After a consumer complaint, the FDA decided it was time to do an inspection of this Family Dollar warehouse, and what they found was... disturbing:
The inspection found "live rodents, dead rodents in various states of decay, rodent feces and urine, evidence of gnawing, nesting and rodent odors throughout the facility, dead birds and bird droppings, and products stored in conditions that did not protect against contamination."
