Hunter Biden changes "not guilty" plea minutes ahead of jury selection in federal court

Minutes before court began today, Hunter Biden and his team decided that he would no longer enter a "not guilty" plea to tax crimes he is being charged with.

But instead of a straightforward guilty plea, the president's son is entering an Alford plea.

This means that Hunter will maintain his innocence, but acknowledge that the evidence will certainly lead to a guilty verdict.

Prosecutors said they needed to confer about the proposal, which they had not been told of in advance. U.S. District Judge Mark Scarsi adjourned the court proceedings until 11 a.m. Pacific time so that prosecutors could negotiate with Biden's attorneys.

Special counsel David Weiss charged Biden last year on nine tax-related counts, accusing him of failing to pay at least $1.4 million in federal taxes from 2016 through 2019. Three charges were felonies and six were misdemeanors. They include failing to file and pay taxes, tax evasion and filing false tax returns.

Hunter knows that the jig is up, but he's not willing to simply plea guilty, even with all of the evidence stacked in his face. He has already been found guilty on separate gun charges and will be sentenced in that case in November.

(Sounds like someone is looking forward to a speedy trial and then a speedy pardon from his daddy? Remember that Biden made a campaign promise not to pardon his son, but that was back when he promised he wouldn't drop out of the race.)

Yeah, don't forget that Joe Biden is still president!
