Lin-Manuel Miranda (known for the Broadway show "Hamilton") is the most recent artist to lament one can never be woke enough, even when one is trying as hard as possible to be woke!
Super-racist website The Root published an article on Wednesday, alleging Miranda's new movie of his musical "In the Heights" has a "lack of darker-skinned Black Latinx folks."
Watch the trailer, and consider the madness that, according to the Unholy Woke Spirit, not even THIS movie is diverse enough!
This must've come as a shock to Miranda, considering he said he "started writing 'In the Heights' because [he] didn't feel seen."
"[O]ver the past 20 years all I wanted was for us — ALL of us — to feel seen," Miranda said.
"I'm seeing the discussion around Afro-Latino representation in our film this weekend and it is clear that many in our dark-skinned Afro-Latino community don't feel sufficiently represented within it, particularly among the leading roles."
You see, it can't just be "Latino" representation or "Afro-Latino."
It must be the "dark-skinned Afro-Latino." And they can't just be "represented" by supporting characters or extras. They must be in the "leading roles"!
Oh, and by the way, did you notice Miranda is still saying "Latino" like a totally transphobic, Spanish-speaking neanderthal? He's way behind!
It's "Latinx," bro – I mean, person! Get it right!
"I can hear the hurt and frustration over colorism, of feeling still unseen in the feedback," Miranda said. "I hear that without sufficient dark-skinned Afro-Latino representation, the work feels extractive of the community we wanted so much to represent with pride and joy."
"In trying to paint a mosaic of this community, we fell short."
Miranda should've known this would happen. You see, according to the Wokeans Road (as opposed to the "Romans Road") from the Woke scriptures, it says:
"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of wokeness, and will never be justified by anyone or anything. Ever." (Wokeans 3:23, ESV).
"For the wages of unwokeness is incessant penance, and there is no free gift of eternal life from anyone or anything. Ever." (Wokeans 6:23, ESV).
"There is therefore now much condemnation for those who are in Wokeism." (Wokeans 8:1, ESV)
I wish the ideas represented by these made-up verses weren't real, but they are.
"I'm trying to hold space both for the indelible pride in the movie we made and be accountable for our shortcomings. Thanks for your honest feedback," Miranda said.
"I promise to do better in my future projects, and I'm dedicated to the learning and evolving we all have to do to make sure we are honoring our diverse and vibrant community."
Miranda has a long way to go in his Wokist's Progress (as opposed to "Pilgrim's Progress"). His journey to appease the Woke Mob is only just beginning (and will never end).
