Grandstanding Ilhan Omar and AOC want to impeach Trump even though Inauguration Day is just two weeks away ๐Ÿค”

Grandstanding is like karaoke. It can feel so good while you're doing it but you are actually making a fool of yourself in public.

Nevertheless, congresspeople love to grandstand. And this is certainly true for a contingent of congressgals who like to call themselves "The Squad."

But this seems a little over the top even for them.

So, unless something miraculous happens tomorrow, we are just two weeks from Biden's inauguration. And I know what you're thinking: This would be the perfect time for Congress to spend their limited energies on trying to impeach Trump... again.

Right?

At least that's what Representatives Ilhan Omar and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez seem to think.

Here's Omar on Twitter:

Using the official Ilhan Omar photoshop letterhead, I see. Nice touch.

They are referring to that leaked Georgia phone call in which Trump asked Georgia's Secretary of State to find 11,000 votes that would allow him to secure Georgia's presidential electors (which, admittedly, didn't sound great).

So let's impeach!

Here's AOC saying much of the same in an interview on Sunday.

"I absolutely think it's an impeachable offense, and if it was up to me, there would be articles on the floor quite quickly, but he, I mean, he is trying to โ€” he is attacking our very election. He's attacking our very election."

Wait. Is he attacking our very election?

Far be it from me to question the wisdom of impeaching a departing president, but it does kinda seem like a waste of time. Unless, of course, your goal isn't to actually impeach him but to simply virtue signal to your base.

But they wouldn't do that, right?

Ya know, sometimes it's just too hard to pass up that sweet, sweet grandstanding high.
