Okay, I know I shouldn't be, but I'm slightly impressed by this. I must say though...
DON'T EVER TRY THIS AT HOME!
(Or anywhere.)
A Missouri woman was "in a hurry to get back to school" on Tuesday night and wasn't going to let a stupid snowstorm get in her way. The storm would eventually drop up to 10 inches of snow along the route she took through Central Iowa, but this did not faze her in any way.
With just 170 miles separating her from the Twin Cities where she goes to school—2.5 hours according to Google Maps—
SHE WAS PULLED OVER BY IOWA STATE PATROL GOING 114MPH!
DURING A SNOWSTORM!
THAT'S INSANE.
So let me get this straight: this lady is doing 114, meanwhile first responders are busy assisting motorists who were stranded during the storm????
The conditions were literally that bad.
Wow.
This was extremely irresponsible, to say the least.
Here's the warning which was put out by the National Weather Service in advance of the storm:
But let me just say this before we go any further: if she had kept that speed until she reached St. Paul she could've easily shaved a whole hour off of her drive. So she at least had that going for her. Probably she is a mathematics student at Macalester College.
But let's be honest, if she hadn't been pulled over she would've probably died in a crazy accident, possibly taking a few others along with her.
Sorry, that's just true.
State Trooper Denny Schnathorst is the man responsible for making the stop, and he deserves a huge "thank you" from the driver. Not for putting her in jail—which he did. He deserves a "thank you" for pretty much saving the girl's life.
That's reality.
Schnathorst says he has pulled over other drivers for going 114 in the past, but never during a snowstorm. The state of Iowa as a whole is cracking down on speeding, and they've seen a 108% increase in speeding tickets above 100mph this year compared to the four-year average. Also insane.
For the record, I still think it's really cool that this person was going 114 in a snowstorm.
