Okay, this was quite awkward.
During Kamala Harris's Univision town hall last night, a Hispanic man asked her about the process that got her the nomination โ or, you know, that time the elites in the party pushed Joe Biden out of the race and inserted Kamala without a single care in the world for the democratic process.
The results were glorious.
"Thank you for being so candid."
Here's her extremely awkward answer in text:
President Biden made a decision that I think history will show was probably one of the most courageous that a president could make, which is he decided to put country above his personal interest. And he made that decision. He, within that same period of time, supported my candidacy and urged me to run.
He and I have been partners for the last four years as his vice president to him as the president, and I am honored to have earned the Democratic nomination. I am honored to have the endorsement of people from every walk of life. You will probably find that I probably have a bigger coalition of people who couldn't seem to be more different than each other, who have come together around my candidacy, from 200 Republicans who worked with and for both Presidents Bush, John McCain, Mitt Romney, including Liz Cheney, the former Congresswoman and her father, the former vice president, Dick Cheney, who was supporting me, former members, very esteemed members, including generals of the national security community. I have the endorsement and support of Alberto Gonzalez, most recently, who, of course, was attorney general. I have the support of people from every background.
Okay, she's doing a pretty good job here avoiding the question.
For a minute she goes on to talk about Donald Trump being a dictator, and then repeats the Project 2025 lie all of us have heard a thousand times.
But here's the kicker. She eventually got back to the question and then admitted,
And so maybe the whole situation, including your point, is a bit unprecedented, but this is an unusual time where we are literally having a choice as the American people about choosing a path either that is about rule of law, democracy, or something that is about admiring dictators and autocracy.
"The whole situation โฆ is a bit unprecedented"????
Yeah, that's why he asked the question!
But at least we know you're kinda in the same boat as the rest of us to think it's kinda "unprecedented" that the elites handed you the nomination without you earning a single vote.
Man, I think she was better off just avoiding the question altogether.
