I remember it like it was yesterday.

Leftists, liberals, progressives, and their entire ilk high-fiving and celebrating as then-Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, a Democrat, manipulated the rules of the world's most deliberative body to suspend the filibuster in order to push through some of Barack Obama's most radical judicial nominees. It was a "brilliant," "crafty," "shrewd" move by a "wise old political cat." Conservatives and Republicans at the time were cautioning that they shouldn't be rejoicing too much because the pendulum always swings back.

Then Donald Trump got elected. As Supreme Court Justices Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh, and Amy Coney Barrett were confirmed and seated for their lifetime appointments, it's fair to say the party atmosphere on the left had somewhat subsided.

I couldn't help but think of that as I've watched the unrestrained glee exhibited by those same leftists, liberals, and progressives as rogue prosecutors succeeded in finally getting a mugshot of former President Donald Trump.

Progressive Christian podcaster, Phil Vischer, certainly enjoyed himself as he mocked Trump and provoked his supporters:

First of all, it's so nice to see how far Vischer's commitment to unifying, winsome, bridge-building Christian speech goes. If it involves condemning the sexual mutilation of children, or the butchery of fetuses in the womb, Vischer wants to make sure we believers step carefully and without giving offense. But when there's a chance to make fun of his right-leaning brethren, it's open season for the talking vegetables guy.

But secondly, given the mounting, substantial public evidence that the Biden family is up to its armpits in illegal conduct, it will be curious how much Vischer enjoys the coming memes of former president Joe Biden's mugshot.

And this won't just be an issue for fringe Christian voices like Vischer's. Just watch this incredible scene from CBS Mornings where they cackled over the scene and poked fun at Trump's weight.

If you get a free second, watch that again, and then go and view some of the guffawing those same media types engaged in heading into the 2016 election when they snorted over the possibility that Trump could ever defeat Hillary. It's identical contempt, condescension, and mockery.

I'm not implying that I think Donald Trump will win again in 2024. But I am certainly suggesting that the Left's days of feasting will soon turn to famine. That's the nature of politics, and they need only look at their weeping and gnashing of teeth that unfolded when recent Supreme Court rulings were released last spring to remember that.

And the Left may think that if they can prevent Trump from being re-elected they can avoid it. Not a chance. Stephen Miller explained it well:

Is it a good thing for America that we've moved into the "prosecuting political opponents and former presidents" stage of our republic's death throes? No, it's not. But with as much as the Left hates Donald Trump, they'll need to be reminded he let Hillary skate. They are the ones who opened this door, and they won't like where it leads.
