Let's congratulate Communist China for inexplicably winning this $2.4 billion energy contract in rural Michigan
· Apr 21, 2023 · NottheBee.com

Yes, gas prices are still sky-high, home energy rates are still greatly elevated, and domestic energy exploration is still being throttled by the White House. Yes, yes, yes. All true.

But look on the bright side: At least we're outsourcing our energy goals to our #1 geopolitical enemy!

During a public hearing for the Michigan Senate's appropriations committee, locals condemned plans to use $175 million in taxpayer funds to build an electric vehicle battery plant in Big Rapids Township owned by Chinese tech company Gotion.

Despite being aggressively confronted for considering the plans, the committee went on to approve the measure in a tight 10-9 vote, with every Republican and three Democrats on the committee coming out against it.

As an aside, obviously, this is true: When something is "owned by [a] Chinese tech company," that means it's owned by the Communist Party of China.

So, yes, the Michigan state government is letting the ChiComs set up a major infrastructural shop right in the middle of the U.S. heartland. I don't know, seems like a bad move! Seems like a really, really dumb idea.

It's worth pointing out that this has been opposed by Michigan residents for some time, all the way down to the local level:

Nobody wants this thing. Here are some of the bracing comments made at the state legislature hearing on Thursday:

  • "This CCP-controlled company represents communism and is a threat to our way of life and our God-given and constitutional freedoms."
  • "We don't want the CCP here by way of the Gotion plant as they have no regard for the value and dignity of human life."
  • "This company pledges allegiance to the Chinese Communist Party and should be determined as a threat to our national security."

No lies detected.

A disgrace from the Michigan legislature and a loss for the people of Michigan — and the United States.
