Hands down, the best thing about Twitter is the comments section.
So, when the Library of Congress tweeted out an apology for using "incorrect pronouns," I just had to dive into those comments - and they did not disappoint!
Yup. That's the Library of Congress deeply apologizing for not using a woman's preferred pronouns.
Yesterday, the library hosted author Casey McQuiston, a female who identifies as queer and non-binary. And yes, they were promoting her new book "Red, White, and Royal Blue" about a feud between the son of the U.S. president and a British prince that turns into a gay romance.
As an author, you would think McQuiston would want to be careful with her words... I mean, she uses gendered pronouns in her own books but insists we all dumb ourselves down by confusing our us with they/them language.
I am not surprised by the library's apology. They're the same people who let Lizzo play a 200-year-old crystal flute!
Wonder if they regret that yet...
So, no, it's not surprising they're begging for forgiveness for not being woke enough to know that what obviously looks like a woman is a they/them.
But like I said, the best part of Twitter and most apology Tweets in the comment section.
Let's take a look, shall we?
NTB reached out for comment on how many Casey McQuistons did, in fact, show up and how many of them signed books.
(Nah, just kidding 🤪)
I hope you enjoyed this clown world update!
