Last year, Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot said she wouldn't allow the National Guard to be deployed in the bloody streets of Chiraq because Orange Man Bad.
"Under no circumstances," she wrote, attempting to signify her brave stand against Literally Hitler.
Now that Our Lord and Savior Joe Biden is president though, she had a meeting with him at O'Hare Airport to talk about using federal resources to better contain the insane violence happening in her city after more than 100 people were shot and 19 killed over the July 4th weekend.
While Lightfoot didn't request troops for the city (and probably shouldn't, since Trump's idea to send in the Guard was shaky at best), she would have rejected any offer of assistance from the former president.
Just until a week ago, after all, she was telling us all that crime was doing fine!
You see, for Lightfoot, it's okay if America's third-largest city burns if it makes your political opponents look bad.
And under Biden, she doesn't have to worry about the minimal use of soldiers to stop violent gang warfare and riots. Instead, she gets massively invasive bureaucracy that allows her to cover her faults, inevitably take guns away from lawful citizens, AND allow corruption and crime to really shine!
