Man finds a 60-year old McDonald’s meal in his wall while doing renovations

A man from Crystal-Lake, Illinois posted on Reddit about finding a – yes, we're serious – 60-year-old Mcdonald's bag with a half-eaten bag of fries inside his wall.

The man, who goes by Rob, told Newsweek that the discovery happened during a renovation in the bathroom:

We are currently renovating our kitchen and bathroom. While removing a fixture in the bathroom I noticed a piece of cloth stuck behind plaster and pulled it out to show my wife. It was balled up and we could tell there was something else inside. When we unwrapped it and found the old McDonald's bag and fries we were very surprised and grateful that is all we found hidden.

Our house was built in 1959; it is very close to a McDonald's location that opened around then, so I assume it found its way into our wall from the original builders.

The restaurant in question was the 48th in the chain and opened the same year Rob's house was built.

Redditors had just a few comments:

"You, sir, are officially an archaeologist'

‘Taking fast food shame eating to a new level. Hide it in the wall.'

‘You gonna finish those forbidden fries?'

‘How bad is the smell?'

In response to the last question, Rob said that there was no smell whatsoever. The fries just looked like an old bag of dried out chips.

Of course, this isn't the first time someone has found some construction worker's lunch in their wall during a remodel. Here's a redditor who found 1977 McDonald's Christmas edition leftovers in a wall.

Just for the record, these are not the sort of time capsules people want to find in their walls. Next time, how about leaving a copy of a comic book in the wall like the one David Gonzalez found in 2013 that had been used as insulation? Even the roughed-up version of Action Comics #1 he found sold for $175,000.

That's the kind of treasure one wants to find in the plaster.

But who knows? Maybe those old Mcdonald's fries will be worth something to some crazy collector out there (since they basically last forever), and old Rob will be able to sell them to pay for the renovations on his house. Crazier things have happened.
