Nigerian man Tunde Akinmoyewa and his friend Bode bought a magic potion from a local "doctor," and the pair decided to test it out.

Tunde insisted Bode shoot him.

It went pretty much the way you might think it would. The bullet hit Tunde, and Tunde hit the ground.

Olufumilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, Police Public Relations Officer in Ondo, Nigeria said,

"One Tunde Akinmoyewa, a male ex-convict who is also a cultist, while testing a locally made gun believed to be newly procured, was accidentally shot by one of his boys, named Bode.

"As a result of which he died while being taken to the hospital for medical attention.

"Meanwhile, the remains of the deceased have been deposited in the mortuary."

Bode is now on the run from authorities for the murder of his friend.

Now, before you dismiss this as hokey backwards African stupidity, don't forget that the number of practicing American witches has risen from 8,000 in the 1990s to 2 million today. TikTok spell videos under the hashtag #witchtok have amassed 20 billion views after the pandemic.

Gabriela Herstik, author of "Inner Witch: A Modern Guide to the Ancient Craft" said,

"We live in this very intense, dark age... People want purpose, and they want connection," she says. "But beyond that, they want something that helps them connect to something larger than themselves. Something that helps them feel like there's a purpose, and magic does that. Magic is a way to align with your purpose, your power."

In other words, they've connected to the ancient power of human stupidity.

The same ancient power that duped these stooges in Nigeria and got one of them killed.

The moral of the story?

Sometimes magic is a stage trick, sometimes it's an evil trick, there may be times it's a spiritual trick, and if you take it to the point the Nigerians did, it can be a deadly trick.

But magic is always a trick.

I'm just gonna drop this on ya: Jesus is the only real power beyond ourselves that's worth connecting to, and following Him involves surrendering self, not gaining personal power and control.

Jesus said, "It is written do not put the Lord your God to the test," when Satan tried to get Him to jump off the temple. (Luke 4:12)

I, for one, will be applying that scripture to any suggestion that I'm bulletproof.
