Your tithe dollars at work!

According to the Harford County Sheriff's Office, Pastor Daniel Champ stole a ton of church money to pay for gambling, food deliveries, and other personal luxuries.

From CBS affiliate WJZ-TV:

'They would talk about holding meetings and not say why, and then all of a sudden the pastor was gone, he was just gone,' said an anonymous member of First Baptist Church in Bel Air ...

According to the Harford County Sheriff's Office, church officials noticed suspicious bank charges and missing money last October.

This apparently started in 2019 and continued for 5 years before they finally charged him with embezzlement.

Here's how he allegedly used the funds.

(Hint: It wasn't for super-secret mission trips)

Investigators said Pastor Champ took more than $135,000 for personal use, such as DoorDash, PayPal, and sports betting.

Meanwhile, The Christian Post linked to his last public sermon online. You'll never guess the topic!

When discussing the biblical passage last September, Champ talked about preachers who are proclaiming the Gospel 'for monetary gain, for some kind of gain for ourselves.'

'They'll come, and they'll preach to you and even though some of what they say is truth, they're doing it out of the wrong heart,'' he said.

'They're not doing it sincerely because they care about your soul. They're doing it because the more people they get on their side, the more money they make.'
