Over the weekend, a large crowd turned out in Alberta for jailed pastor James Coates, who was imprisoned for defying the government's COVID mandates:

"Whatever else you do, please consider history will remember you for one thing," said one protester, addressing Albertan Premier Jason Kenney. "And even if history is corrupted, the history of heaven will remember you for one thing... stand for the freedoms that I know you believe in."

The speaker added: "It will cost you much, but if you fail, it will cost you more than you ever could imagine."

Here's what James' wife, Erin, had to say:

"My husband is fighting for freedom, but more he's fighting for the Lordship of Christ over his Church."

Pastor John MacArthur also spoke out and led a prayer on behalf of James, who is a graduate of the Masters Seminary:

"One of our graduates... is in jail today because he was faithful to preach the Word of God on a Sunday."

On Wednesday, Coates's court date was set for May 3, meaning he may have to spend two more months in jail before he even gets a trial.

On Sunday, Pastor Coates's church GraceLife continued worship with a full house and Pastor Jake Spenst in the pulpit.
