It's been over ten years since the people of Anchorage have encountered this beast of a snowman, and now he's back and bigger than ever.
Ladies and gentlemen, meet Snowzilla of Anchorage, Alaska.
There must've been some magic in that old silk hat they found, for when they placed it on his head he grew 20 feet off the ground.
For clarity's sake, the Powers family actually built the snowman to be 20 feet tall.
20 FEET TALL!!!
There was no magic involved, kids.
And people came from all over to see him. Tourists from Vancouver, Southern California, and of course the locals in Alaska came out to see the giant snowman.
You may be wondering why it's been ten years since Snowzilla's last appearance, so here you go.
The family had been building the giant snowman since 2005 but received a cease-and-desist notice from the city in 2008 after complaints from neighbors about increased traffic in the area and concerns about safety regarding the structure.
The Powers kids are all grown up now, too, so that's made it difficult on Mr. and Mrs. to give Snowzilla life. There's also been a lot of bad snow years since 2008 according to the locals.
No fuss yet this year from the city regarding Snowzilla, so we hope he continues his reign as the largest snowman in the states for years to come. Though he'll have competition, I guarantee it.
I'll leave you with this fun segment from the local news station:
LOVE IT!
