Memphis reporter nearly breaks down on live TV discussing the city's crime wave

You hate to see it:

In the last week, Memphis had a high-profile kidnapping-murder where a released felon brutally killed Eliza Fletcher, a 34-year-old mom of two, followed by a shooting spree where a madman fired on random people around the city.

If you're wondering, Memphis has had a Democrat mayor since 1991. Over 64% of residents voted Democrat in the 2020 presidential election. The 9th Congressional District that runs through Memphis is heavily-black and is one of the most left-leaning districts in the entire South.

"Stop making this political!" some people shout.

But the problem is political, and beyond that, spiritual.

The new District Attorney for the city is the far-left, soft-on-crime type that has popped up in many blue cities across America. DA Steven Mulroy called Eliza Fletchers horrible murder "an isolated attack by a stranger."

[Suspect] Cleotha Abston, though, has an extensive criminal record dating back to 1995 when he was just 12-years-old. Abston appeared in court on criminal charges in 1996, 1997, 1998, and 1999 for "theft, aggravated assault, aggravated assault with a weapon, and rape," according to court documents via the Memphis Commercial Appeal.

This man was out on the streets because DA's like Mulroy believe incarceration is bad, that criminals need to be released due to systemic racism, and that the human heart is inherently good and can be changed by leftist policies.

The same week he called this an isolated attack, another career criminal with a history of violence was free to kill 4 people and injure 3 more in a vehicular shooting spree.

What is happening in Memphis is a tragedy, but a predictable tragedy. For more on how this has been a long time coming due to leftist thought experiments, check out Chris Rufo's documentary on the city's public housing:
