When you think of Netflix, you probably don't immediately think of wholesome characters. With much of the video streaming company's original content focusing on anti-heroes and depravity, it can be difficult to find much wholesome entertainment for grown-ups.
And then there's Michael, from Netflix's docuseries, Love on the Spectrum. The series follows several young autistic men and women as they navigate the challenges of dating and finding love. While most of the main players are already incredibly endearing, Michael stands above the rest in ways that you truly just have to see to appreciate:
While some of the stars' quirks will make you chuckle, the show remains respectful as it provides a window into the very real and unique challenges that wouldn't occur to neurotypical people.
Some of my favorite Michael quotes include:
"A woman has to be beautiful, but not to the point where she looks like a model on a runway. Definitely not. That's too beautiful. Pretty much a 50/50 looking girl; that would be the best."
"No relationship is perfect, because perfection in a relationship cannot exist in any way. But you can make a relationship a very healthy, stable, loving relationship."
This guy speaks with such sincerity (and, well... did I mention wholesomeness?), that even though I'm only 2 episodes in, I can't help but root for him to find true love!
