With the population decreasing thanks to so few millennials and zoomers deciding to have children, institutions of higher education are staring down the barrel of declining enrollment numbers, and many are so far in debt, mass university bankruptcies could be on the way too.

Democrats think they can prop up those institutions' numbers by making college free for everyone. Consider Minnesota's new legislation that makes Minnesota two-year and four-year schools free for everyone making $80,000 or less in the state.

To solve the population issue, the Democrats are hoping to import more people from abroad like any other commodity.

Former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi let the cat out of the bag when she said states need illegal immigrants to pick their crops.

But they also think those same illegal immigrants' kids could help keep the universities open too.

That Minnesota bill is available to everyone who has been in the state longer than 12 months or graduated from a Minnesota high school, regardless of documentation status.

"We want to make sure that when we're expanding opportunities for everybody, we're doing it for all Minnesotans, regardless of background, regardless of their documentation status," Senate Higher Education Chair Omar Fateh (DFL-Minneapolis) said.

In Minnesota, illegal immigrants are also eligible for driver's licenses and MinnesotaCare, which is free healthcare for low-income residents.

Now, it's easy to think that undocumented immigrants here illegally will be lining up to go to Minnesota. But living on the border, I know a lot of people who are undocumented, and a lot of them did try moving up to the socialist nirvana, but they all leave for the same reason I did.

Winter.

Minnesota is colder than a libertarian's heart. It'll chew up and spit out all but the toughest people whether they're a citizen or an illegal immigrant.

The only real solution to Minnesota's lack of college students is for the millennials and zoomers that are already acclimated to the weather there to have children that are also acclimated, but Minnesota's abortion access, LGBTQ, and climate hysteria laws are going to keep that from ever being a thing.

And those are all propagated by the same universities desperate for students.

But for the Minnesotans already in the state, paying for all this, you'll at least have the joy of knowing your tax dollars are indoctrinating a bunch of immigrants in the merits of communism and the evils of America.

So, you've got that going for you.

But you know, maybe all that money they're burning up there will keep you warm in those brutal winters.
