Nearly 25% of all U.S. adults want their state to secede from the Union. Some of the states with higher percentages might surprise you.

I don't think we can expect any of this to cool down as we approach the November elections:

Nationwide, 23 percent of respondents said they wanted their state to opt out.

Twenty-three percent. Nearly one in four. Count off your neighbors: One, two, three, four.

One of those guys wants your state out of the Union.

Although the numbers are not evenly distributed. Alaska, surprisingly, tops the list: More than a third of them want out. Texas ranks second at 31%.

The other top states, meanwhile, might surprise you:

Democrat-run California and New York are next in line to abandon ship, with 29 percent and 28 percent of residents favoring secession, respectively.

Nearly 30% of Californians and New Yorkers want to secede??

If you've got two of the country's most commie-run states that are on board, it seems like the scales might be tipping. Not a good sign for the Union!

Other states, meanwhile, are posting similarly high numbers:

Oklahomans (28 percent), Nebraskans (25 percent), Georgians (25 percent), Floridians (24 percent) and Washingtonians (24 percent) are also eyeing the door.

Connecticut ranks at the bottom of the list; just nine percent of its people want out.

(Weirdos)

Similar polls in the past have revealed similar or higher levels of disaffection with America in her current form:

The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that states do not have the right to unilaterally secede from the Union, so all of this is unlikely to mean much.

What it does mean, of course, is that a huge and growing number of citizens are radically unhappy about the state and direction of the country, and they're getting more and more desperate to address it.

Our leaders ignore this discontent at great risk.

I'll drop this meme here as a thought experiment for us all:
