Don't look now, but it's 2025 and Republicans are very much in play to win the governorship of New Jersey.
And no, thank goodness, Chris Christie has nothing to do with it.
After this smackdown in this week's debate we told you about ...
Republican Jack Ciatterelli has brought the race to a dead heat between himself and Democrat Mikie Sherrill.
But that's not all.
AFTER this poll was taken, more news broke about Sherrill's less than stellar record at the United States Naval Academy.
Now to make it clear, Sherrill was involved in the cheating scandal not because she herself cheated, this has never been alleged, but she was barred from walking at graduation because her loyalty to her friends prevented her from ratting the cheaters out.
So she allegedly covered up other people cheating, by her own admission.
Here is her opponent's response to the news:
Of course, Democrats are less concerned with the multiple blights on Sherrill's records and are far more concerned that the story was accidentally leaked.
From Politico:
House Democrats called for an investigation into the release of Rep. Mikie Sherrill's (D-N.J.) military records Thursday, following reports that her personal information was errantly distributed.
The ranking member of the House Oversight Committee, Rep. Robert Garcia (D-Calif.), called the release of the record a 'stunning failure' to protect the privacy of a veteran and member of Congress. In a letter shared first with POLITICO, he called for an investigation of what he called an 'illegal and likely politically motivated disclosure.'
The story isn't ever the Democrat scandal, is it? It's always another scandal.
The National Archives accidentally gave CBS News the un-redacted file on Mikie Sherrill, and that exposed Sherrill's involvement in the cheating scandal.
CBS News reported earlier Thursday that the National Personnel Records Center, a branch of the National Archives and Records Administration, released improperly redacted personnel files that included the New Jersey representative's social security number, among other private information about her military service.
Therefore ... the scandal is no big deal, right?
We weren't supposed to find out about it, after all.
But now we do know. And the people of New Jersey know.
It's looking like Mikie may be kissing her chances of being governor bye-bye!
