NY Governor Hochul says "I don't need to have numbers" when asked if the concealed carry law SCOTUS just struck down would have any effect on gun crimes

New York became the center of the gun debate after the Supreme Court last week struck down a state law that would inhibit people from legally carrying guns for self-defense.

Most people on the Right point out that legal gun owners commit far fewer of the types of crimes Hochul is railing about than illegal firearms owners do.

When confronted with this very basic right-wing talking point, Hochul goes completely off the rails, having no clue how to defend her state's law.

Anne: Do you have numbers to show that it's the concealed carry permit holders that are committing crimes? Becasue the lawful gun owner will say that you're attacking the wrong person. It's really people that are getting these guns illegally that are causing the violence. Not the people going and getting the permit legally. And that's the whole basis for the Supreme Court argument. Do you have the number?

Hochul: I don't need to have numbers. I don't need to have a data point to say this. All I know is that I have a responsibility for this state to have sensible gun safety laws.

So, she has no proof that this law would have made the state any safer, but it's also very bad that the Supreme Court struck it down because now people will be less safe.
