New York Times poll shows Trump winning in 3 important swing states
· Sep 23, 2024 · NottheBee.com

New York Times and Sienna routinely put out the most respected and accurate polls in the country (No, you don't have to trust them) and the latest numbers are a boon for MAGA.

In three important swing states, Donald Trump is polling ahead of Harris.

The polls found that Mr. Trump has gained a lead in Arizona and remains ahead in Georgia, two states that he lost to President Biden in 2020. But in North Carolina, which has not voted for a Democrat since 2008, Ms. Harris trails Mr. Trump by just a narrow margin.

The polls of these three states, taken from Sept. 17 to 21, presented further evidence that in a sharply divided nation, the presidential contest is shaping up to be one of the tightest in history.

Eddie Zipperer is kind of a pro at this, and he's got some analysis on this polling worth considering.

If the polling from the NYT has stayed the same, not gotten worse, these are very encouraging results for the Trump camp.

The polls also show that Kamala's biggest supporters are young people who historically, and in this poll admit, aren't as likely to actually go vote.

You can't rely on the polls, of course, but they aren't painting a pretty picture for Kamala Harris.

The New York Times compiled a list of recent polls from other groups that help show Kamala's struggles in swing states.

Another VERY fun fact from the Times polling is that the debate where Donald Trump supposedly "lost" according to all of the "experts" shows that he didn't lose at all.

He's only improved his odds since that debate.

That's right, experts on both sides of the aisle! Trump won the debate.

At the same time, Mr. Trump's 'America First' message enjoys significant support. Just over 50 percent said America had lost out to its foreign competitors on trade, leading to a loss of jobs. Mr. Trump has promised to impose steep tariffs should he win the presidency. And a majority of respondents said the United States should be paying less attention to problems overseas and more to problems on the home front.

As in nearly every state and national poll conducted this year by Times/Siena, a plurality of voters — 31 percent — identified inflation or the economy as the top issue in deciding their vote. And 55 percent of these Sun Belt respondents said Mr. Trump would do a better job managing it, compared with 42 percent for Ms. Harris.

As James Carville says, it's the economy, stupid!
