So Newsweek this week came out with a look at the debate over vaccinating young children against COVID-19:

...and I mean, it's arguably pretty even-handed, at least as far as these things go. It comes off as pretty heavily in favor of vaccination, but it also gives fair space to some objections to that course of action.

But apparently even just reporting on the existence of those objections is completely unacceptable, at least if major response on Twitter is to be believed:

"Fearmongering, anti-vaccine..." Huh? The magazine explicitly noted that "health experts strongly back a COVID vaccine for children."

Facts? Like the extremely low number of healthy kids who have died from the 'Rona, many of whom had preexisting conditions), especially compared to other things like the common flu, let alone accidents, cancer, and other causes of death.

To put it in perspective, 243 children (most of whom had preexisting conditions) aged 1-14 have died with Covid since the start of the pandemic. In that same timeframe, 519 have died of generic pneumonia.

Also, a grand total of 16,333 American children in that age group have died from various causes, meaning only 1.5% of all deaths were from the 'Rona.

Stats like this don't matter to the blue checks! The Narrative™ must be preserved!

Sheesh.

Call me crazy, but it's not the best look when health officials are completely opposed to even the pretense of meaningful public debate.
