Nike wants to hit the gaming scene, so of course they're doing a campaign with a nonbinary furry.
This guy:
Yup, that's SonicFox (real name Dominique McLean), and he describes himself as "gay, black, a furry -- pretty much everything a Republican hates." That was during the 2018 Gaming Awards where he won "Esports Player of the Year," but now he's described as queer instead of gay.
Congrats on the upgrade, SonicFox!
Anyhow, let's visit an article from Them magazine (yes, that's a real magazine):
Dominique 'SonicFox' McLean, the 'Lebron James of gaming,' is an award-winning esports player whose specialty is fighting games, especially Mortal Kombat and Injustice. McLean, who is queer and nonbinary, won the award for best esports player at the 2018 Game Awards.
...
Yes, McLean is also a furry, whose fursona, SonicFox, is a blue and white anthropomorphic fox. McLean told Kotaku that they discovered his fursona, a portmanteau for 'furry persona,' at the age of 10, but that they didn't start wearing his signature blue-and-white ears until age 16. 'I was a furry before I started playing fighting games,' they said.
You can see now why it's called Them magazine.
Also, how does one become the LeBron James of gaming? Is there a universal flop button on all the controllers?
Here's the NIke ad we're here to see (it looks like McLean is the werewolf guy):
Really glad Nike is teaming up with this guy so I can continue to not buy their products!
