How bad is the drug overdose problem in NYC? From the Health Department in New York City:
One New Yorker dies every THREE HOURS because of a drug overdose!?!?
The likelihood of running into someone overdosing is so probable that the city wants EVERYBODY who uses or is around drugs to carry Narcan at all times and know how to use it.
How does this happen? Why is this allowed to happen?
Here's how bad it is, by the way:
And, of course, NYC's solution is to have people carry Narcan instead of, you know, jailing and punishing drug users and offenders.
"First, everyone should carry naloxone (Narcan), get trained to use it and to recognize the signs of overdose."
I'm glad New York is encouraging responsible carry of some kind?
They also want you to use drugs in groups, because it's safer (and probably more fun, let's be honest). And talk to your family about how drugs are bad.
Will any of these things solve the drug crisis?
There are solutions to the drug problem. I just don't know if we have the stomach for them.
