Welp, this seems like a step backward.

We've reached another milestone in California's sad descent into the stone age.

In Oakland, California, traffic lights kept going out because a nearby homeless encampment kept stealing copper from the electrical boxes that powered the lights.

According to local residents, a nearby encampment full of RVs kept stealing power by running illegal wire from city electrical boxes:

Sometimes they straight-up steal the copper wire, leading the traffic lights to stop working for months on end.

The last straw finally came when the malfunctioning lights caused this truck to plow into a local Asian-owned business called Le's Auto Body & Engine Repair.

So what did the city of Oakland do? They gave up and installed a stop sign.

As for the homeless encampment responsible for wreaking havoc on the community? We were curious, so we pulled up Google Street View to get a sense for what it looks like. Here's what we found, just in the immediate vicinity of the intersection:

There were over three miles of this.

It's sad to see such a beautiful state spiral toward becoming a 3rd-world country thanks to Democrat policies.
