Wintertime in Hudson, Ohio can be quite boring. It's cold; the days are short; and, maybe worst of all, you're in Ohio.
Naturally, when the citizens of Hudson see the lakes freeze over, they have one thing in mind: ice fishing.
Well, the Hudson City Council has still yet to approve ice fishing on this pretty lake right here.
It's a nice lake.
According to the internet, there are Crappie, Bass, Bluegill, and Walleye deep in the waters of Hudson Springs Lake just waiting to be hooked.
And I'm happy to say that the Hudson City Council is currently hearing arguments to open up the lake to ice anglers.
However, Mayor Craig Shubert has an interesting roadblock that the internet is just going to rip him for until the lake hopefully opens up for ice fishing next year.
Here he is:

Did you see the guy next to him?
Like, what'd you say bro?!?!
Prostitution?!?!
Where'd you come up with that???
I absolutely love this video from Charlie Berens of the Manitowoc Minute:
"Walleye depletion."

Mayor Schubert had this to say:
"My comment about ice fishing, the permitting of shanties on lakes, and prostitution stems from my experience as a former television news reporter covering law enforcement agencies, which have made arrests for acts of prostitution in ice fishing shanties. When discussing proposed legislation, it is wise to discuss the potential for unintended consequences. My statement was to enlighten council that the future permitting of ice shanties may lead to other issues."
So the data he speaks of is from one time, some years ago, when Shubert worked for a news outlet.
Hudson, Ohioβ¦
I think you need a new mayor.
