R.I.P., Alice Lake in William O'Brien State Park.
All that's left is a creek running through the empty lake bed and a BUNCH of dead fish.
The artificial 26-acre lake northeast of the Twin Cities is normally 9 feet deep. After a recent storm caused water levels to rise and flow over into the adjacent St. Croix River, parks department staff opened a drain to get rid of some of the excess water.
When they tried to close the drain, the valve got stuck.
My favorite comment came from this woman:
I feel sorry for the fish population.
😂
CBS News added this at the end of their write-up and I had to share:
Alice Lake is known for its wide variety of fish. The DNR says anglers can find bluegills, largemouth bass, northern pikes and walleyes among other varieties.
Not right now, they can't! 😭
