I'm just gonna set my alarm for five minutes from now for when the media blames Trump for this one.

This happened at 8:28 a.m. at Marana Regional Airport, about 20 miles northwest of Tucson, Arizona.

From CNN:

A Cessna 172S and Lancair 360 MK II collided at 8:28 a.m. local time near the Marana Regional Airport, according to preliminary information from the National Transportation Safety Board.

The aircraft ‘collided while upwind of runway 12,' one of two runways at the airport. The Cessna landed ‘uneventfully' and the Lancair impacted terrain near the other runway and ‘a post-impact fire ensured [sic],' the NTSB said.

The Federal Aviation Administration called the airport an ‘uncontrolled field,' which does not have an operating air traffic control tower. Pilots often will use a Common Traffic Advisory Frequency to announce their position to other pilots who are in the airport vicinity. Pilots operating in uncontrolled fields are still required to comply with all federal aviation regulations.

Here's what those airplanes look like for context:

The Lancair had been conducting its second go-around waiting for slower traffic to land. On the Lancair's second go-around it followed the Cessna to the runway, though at a higher altitude. The Cessna then conducted a touch-and-go, elevating back up and colliding from below with the Lancair.

The Cessna landed safely, while the Lancair crashed.

It is being reported that two people died in the crash.
