People who bought this expensive "AI Pin" are going to have their devices bricked after the company was sold

Isn't it annoying when you get a new phone or gadget and your old charging cables don't work anymore? Well, this is worse.

Hardware startup Humane announced this week that most of its assets have been bought by HP for $116 million, and that it will immediately discontinue the sale of its $499 AI Pins.

Haven't heard of their AI Pin that Humane launched as a replacement for smartphones? Neither had I. But apparently, it SUCKED.

Even the charging case was a hazard, with Humane warning users to stop using it because they were worried about battery fires.

To add insult to injury for those who did buy an AI Pin — which was originally sold for $699 — after February 28, the product will no longer be able to connect to Humane's servers, and won't be able to call, message, answer any queries, or access cloud services.

Oh, and customer support for the AI Pin will be shut down too.

According to the company, anyone who bought an AI Pin in the last 90 days is eligible for a refund. 91 days and earlier? Sorry.

The "Important Update for Consumer AI Pin Customers" was also prime Big Tech jargon gold:

But not to worry! After February 28, there are still some amazing "offline" features left on the AI Pin like ... battery level.

(If your battery doesn't explode first.)
