Any driving instructor will tell you that dangerous traffic accidents can have a wide range of causes, but one wreck last week in Ohio may be the first-ever documented instance of a traffic accident caused by a donut.

From The New York Post:
The disastrous events unfolded when the unidentified motorist dropped his sugary treat while reaching for a cup of coffee in his car as he was traveling on Rock Creek Road in Thompson Wednesday morning, the Ohio State Highway Patrol told WJW.
The distracted driver, who was unfamiliar with the winding road, allegedly veered into oncoming traffic and side-swiped one car before crashing into a second vehicle, the local outlet reported.
While it's fairly common knowledge that donuts can be dangerous to your health, this takes things to a whole new level!
Believe it or not, the accident resulted in the road closing for three hours. And no, it wasn't to continue the search for the donut.

Two drivers were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, while another was treated near the donut crash site.
Authorities cited the donut-dropper for distracted driving in the deliciously dangerous debacle.
At publishing time, the condition of the donut remains unknown.
