Oops. Santa traded his sleigh for a motorized paraglider and crashed into some power lines.

What was he thinking?!

Instead of using his trusted flying sleigh, Ol' St. Nick decided to strap into a motorized paraglider to deliver candy canes to local kids in Rio Linda, CA, this weekend. But without the outstanding navigational skills of Rudolph guiding him along his flight path, he ended up getting tangled in some power lines.

The local energy company had to cut power to a couple hundred customers to allow the fine folks at Sacramento Metro Fire to come to his rescue. But we're sure those customers didn't mind because Californians are used to having their power cut off, right?

I mean, am I right or am I right?

So while the firefighters worked to untangle him, a thin seatbelt is all that kept Santa from plunging to the pavement below.

Can't even imagine what was going through the minds of the young spectators below as they watched their Christmas hopes and dreams dangling by a wire.

"Without any doubt, the restraints prevented him from injury and likely saved not only Santa's life, but Christmas." — Fire Capt. Christopher Vestal
