The all-star break is over in both the NBA and the NHL. The NHL break was wildly successful, ending in an overtime game between Canada and the U.S., which Canada won. The NBA All-Star Game was meh, as usual, with LeBron James skipping the game with a boo-boo.

The guys at ESPN asked hockey great PK Subban if he thought basketball could benefit from an international competition similar to what the NHL tried this year, and while he never really answered the question, he did break down what differentiates hockey culture from basketball culture.

Here he is, and trust me, this is worth all three minutes of your time.

He said a lot there, but essentially the difference between modern hockey and modern basketball is, "you can step on an NBA floor and go through the [motions], you can't do that in hockey." Hockey's "not just based on the skill and talent, it's based on the pride, honor, playing for the guy next to you."

Basketball ... not so much.
