The Abbotsford Police Department responded to a call earlier this week after a local thrift store in British Columbia found a grenade in the donation bin.
Police evacuated the thrift store, which likely looked something like this:

Meanwhile, members of the Explosives Disposal Unit (EDU) removed the device. The grenade did not contain explosive materials, but they were able to determine that it was in fact a real decommissioned WWII Mills Grenade.
The person who donated the grenade was tracked down and said that he used the antique explosive as a paperweight and it accidentally ended up among his donations.

Thankfully the situation was quickly resolved and people were able to continue their thrift store treasure hunting as usual.
Constable Art Stele of the police department said in a statement,
We we were very relieved to have learnt that the grenade was decommissioned, yet want to ensure persons take the precaution of going through their donations prior to drop off.
